Planning a wedding was something I always thought I would be doing in 3-4 years from now. Everyone else was asking, "so when are you getting married?" I was so fixiated on graduating, I didn't really care. I knew it would happen, I just never expected it to be the same year I would be graduating and starting my teaching career...I may be crazy but I think it's all going to be an awesome way to start a wonderful chapter in my life.
We have been together nearly three years as of now. We both will tell you that we have found our soulmates. He is my best friend and more than anything I ever imagined as my husband. One day we just started talking about getting married and it kind of took me by surprise, but I just went with it. Naturally the event planner in me was envisioning walking down the aisle, the songs we would dance to, the beautiful colored linens, candle light, my yummy chicken athena...then it happened. I realized 10-10-10 was a Sunday and I have a thing for numbers. We kept talking and talking and I was planning and planning and then one night he said to let it be, it will happen when it is supposed to, let him do it on his own time. Well I have never been one to follow the rules or traditions, just because everyone else does it on one knee with a ring didn't mean I had to. The next day, he told after a lot of thought he realized how cool that date was and that even though he wasn't planning on proposing until after the holidays...that he knew the importance of booking stuff now. So I did and we have been planning ever since!
There was no ring, no official proposal...just two adults making a decision together to spend our lives together. There will be a ring, which is a whole other post! (I can't find a traditional engagement ring that I like or that someone doesn't already have...) Everything has really fallen into place, the venue had a cancellation come through the night before I called, the DJ I wanted was available, my dress I fell in love with was on sale...so let the games begin! My students teaching starts next week and I am NINE MONTHS from getting MARRIED!
